A ban on Troll

Ok, this is getting out of hand.

In the last few days the word troll seems to be getting used with increasing frequency. In comments, people say this guy is a troll, we read diaries denouncing yet another troll.

Is the new definition for troll: A guy I disagree with or someone I don't like?

What I see are people trying to kick each other out...

I agree, we need to ban trolls.  Keep up the good fight!

Re: A ban on Troll (1.00 / 1)

TaiChiMaster is not a troll.

He's trollish.

Trolls don't want a Democrat elected, they ant Hillary or no one.

Trolls want to go to Denver over four delegates.

Trolls claim Michelle Obama is a racist based on zero evidence.

Trolls claim that Hillary is winning the popular vote when every news org says that's bullshit.

Trolls post diaries with no facts to back them up.

Trolls want to lose in November, because they're idiots.

If it goes to Denver, we all lose. Not Obama, not Clinton, WE ALL LOSE IN NOVEMBER.

Re: A ban on Troll (none / 0)

nothing new from my 2nd fav troll.

look, stop pretending to be dumb, thats a gop tactic.

A troll is anyone who bashes with the intent to smear and discredit our party and it's politicians.

There is ALOT of that against not just Obama but countless other leaders and heros of our party.

If Hariet Christian was a member here she would be considered a troll for attacking a Democrat with racial slurs.

How odd. (none / 0)

You say:

"A troll is anyone who bashes with the intent to smear and discredit our party and it's politicians."

Yet that is what some of the opposition to Hillary did here each and every day, ad nauseum.

I suppose that means we can safely designate a majority of those who opposed Hillary so vehemently here with over the top crap in favor of Obama 'trolls'.

I think you might want to rethink your definition.

Designating members of your own party (of which I am no longer one, NPA now, btw) as not worthy to be part of that party is a GOP tactic.  Overlooking that fact as folks seek to purge some from their ranks is 'acting dumb'.

Folks are still just pissed that Hillary didn't crawl off stage in defeat last night.  She had no need to.

Hell's bells, even the GOP didn't have to crucify Eisenhower's record in order to make Reagan their 'saint'. We can have two great ones, you know?

Re: A ban on Troll (2.00 / 2)

Someone got pushed off the recent diaries for this.

You are going to see a lot of resistance to people trying to torpedo Obama, as he is now the nominee.  This is how it should be.  Those who attack him on this site now are either willfully or recklessly doing the Republicans' bidding.

Re: A ban on Troll (2.00 / 4)

There are plenty of genuine trolls out there.  In particular, the Republicans are sending people to sites that have a reputation as being pro-Hillary, masquerading as Hillary supporters.  These people will be urging Hillary supporters to stay home in November, and will bitterly attack Barack Obama.  But they are phonies, people who hate the Clintons as much as they hate Obama.

A troll is a disruptive person interested in hurting the cause, not merely someone you disagree with.  And there are plenty of them out there.

Ok Trolly McTrollsalot (1.66 / 3)

I've pissed off a lot of people in my time at MyDD and I don't think I've been called a troll.  I've been called a lot of other names but...

The reason people are calling you a troll is because you are one.  Take the hint.

I think this topic needs a tribal analysis. (2.00 / 1)

This definitely couldn't wait for an open thread.

Re: I think this topic needs a tribal analysis. (1.50 / 2)

I don't make two terribad diaries within 12 hours. When I can't think of something substantial enough to make a diary out of it, I just make a comment out of it.

Seriously, if you want to post crazy crap, just dump it in the TexasDarlin post, or something.

Re: A ban on Troll (none / 0)

I see your point.  But I'm not sure how to stop it.  I guess the best thing to do is to word your diaries carefully and develop a thick skin.  The problem, of course, is that if you glance over a diary and then see a bunch of "troll" comments then you tend to think that it is a troll diary.

That said, I think blogs are places to have discussions, not just to cheerlead for on another.  So maybe allowing a few trolls to get in is worth keeping the discussions open.

There is nothing sadder than a troll who does not know he is a troll.

Re: A ban on Troll (2.00 / 2)

If a troll spouts off against our nominee in the forest and no one is around, does he still make an inflammatory sound?

It is kind of funny that in this diary complaining about the use of the word troll there has been so many TRs given out
